Junior doctors threatening industrial action

JMDA president Dr Renee Badroe

Radio Jamaica News understands that there could be disruptions in public health care today as junior doctors take industrial action over issues surrounding overtime remunerations.

Up to Sunday the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association wassaying the government had failed to respond to an ultimatum for the completion of discussions.

The junior doctors, who are restive, indicated last week that there could be disruptions in the health sector in the coming days.

JMDA president Dr Renee Badroe, speaking with Radio Jamaica News on Sunday, expressed disappointment that the government ignored the group's call for action.

"We were hoping that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance would have reached out to us last week, but they have not done so and we await that response," she said.
