The man who chaired the Enquiry into the invasion by the security forces in Tivoli Gardens in July 2001, Julius Isaac has died.
Justice Isaac a former Chief Justice of the Federal Court in Canada passed away, surrounded by his family, on Saturday.
The enquiry began hearings on September 10, 2001.
Isaac's three member West Kingston Commission of Enquiry was charged with investigating the actions of Jamaican security forces during the melee which ended with 27-persons including a policeman and a soldier dead.
The enquiry presented challenges on several fronts--legal, political, and even personal.
Isaac was accused of bias in the proceedings by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) which refused to cooperate with the enquiry.
