Commuters travelling on the state owned Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses will start paying increased fares as of Sunday.
Last week, it was announced that adults will now be charged J$120, senior citizens will pay J$40 while the concessionary fare for children, students and members of the disabled community will be increased to J$30.
This is the second increase in bus fares in eight months.
Cabinet approved increased charges to ride the buses as part of measures to help the cash strapped bus company finance as much of its expenses from revenues as possible.
