Veteran Jamaican deejay and gospel artiste Lieutenant Stitchie has died.
He was 60 years old.
The entertainer, whose real name is Cleve Laing, had been battling health complications after suffering a debilitating stroke in September 2024, which left him unable to speak and with limited mobility.
His wife, Sophia Laing, confirmed on Sunday that he had been admitted to Kingston Public Hospital after his blood count fell and was receiving blood.
A former athlete and schoolteacher, Lieutenant Stitchie emerged from Spanish Town's sound system scene before breaking through with Wear Yuh Size in 1986.
He later signed with Atlantic Records and, after becoming a born-again Christian in 1997, turned his focus to gospel and inspirational music.
