Air Jamaica
has announced new regulations governing checked-on luggage.
On Tuesday, the airline said between July 1st and August 31st, it would not be accepting excess bags on flights from Toronto, Canada to Jamaica, between New York, Barbados and Guyana.
No excess pieces will be accepted on flights also between New York and Jamaica.
Air Jamaica said the baggage allowance for the Lovebird Executive Class will now be three pieces at a maximum weight of 50 pounds each.
Checked bags weighing 51-70 pounds will incur a charge of US$75 per piece.
Air Jamaica added that sporting equipment will no longer be considered standard checked baggage and a fee will be applied.
According to the airline, while the entire airline industry is implementing fees for checked bags, it still allows passengers to check up to two bags in Economy and up to 3 bags in Lovebird Executive class at no charge.
As usual, each traveler is permitted one carry-on piece of baggage, which must fit underneath the passenger seat or in the overhead compartment.
