The morning shift at the Maggotty High School in St. Elizabeth was dismissed early today due to the lack of water at the institution.
Sean Graham, Principal of the school, said the National Water Commission (NWC) normally trucks supply to the institution. However, he said the school has been without NWC water since Monday and no reason has been given by the commission for not providing the commodity this time around.
"Currently we have asked a private company to (send) two trucks of water so we can operate the afternoon shift with the hope that the NWC situation will be rectified so that we can get back to instructional activities because we don't want the students to lose out," Mr. Graham told RJR News.
He said only students who will sit external exams in June are currently at the school.
