The man who was taken into custody in connection with the theft of two money bags with $20 million from a Beryllium courier truck last week has been charged with simple larceny.

He is 52-year-old Aldin Nelson, a driver of Harbour View, Kingston 17.

The money was stolen from the courier truck on Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard in East Kingston last Thursday.

Reports are that shortly before 10 a.m., security officers were transporting money when a motorist alerted them that the back door of the truck was open.

The motorist also reported that two bags had fallen out along the roadway.

Checks were made but the bags were not recovered.

Following further investigations, Mr. Nelson's home was searched and a small bag containing the money was found.

He was subsequently arrested and charged after being questioned in the presence of his attorney.
