Man dead following crash on Salt Marsh road, Trelawny

Inspector Wayne Sutton of the Falmouth Police

A man is dead following a motor vehicle crash on the Salt Marsh main road in Trelawny on Tuesday morning.

He has not been identified.

According to Inspector Wayne Sutton of the Falmouth Police, about 3:45 a.m., the driver was travelling from Falmouth heading in the direction of Montego Bay when he lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a tree.

He died at the scene.

The police are appealing to motorists using the road to be extremely careful and drive at the prescribed speed limit.

Retaining wall

Residents along that stretch of road, in the meantime, are calling for the installation of a retaining wall along the thoroughfare.

They say motor vehicle crashes frequently occur along the road.

A resident told RJR News she believes she was spared from Tuesday morning's crash only because of a tree in front of her house.

The residents say a retaining wall or more trees along the road will protect those living nearby.
