The police are at the port in downtown Kingston where 64 pistols, more than 965 nine millimetre rounds of ammunition and 107 magazines were discovered during a special operation.
Two people have been taken into custody.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey said the operation began at 8:00 a.m. Friday.
He said the guns were shipped from the United States, lamenting that Jamaicans living abroad are the ones sending them into the island.
DCP Bailey urged members of the diaspora to encourage their peers to “desist from engaging in this type of destructive activity”.
This is the second major seizure of multiple weapons made by the security forces at one of the island's ports in a matter of days.
