Dante Brooks, the son of dancehall entertainer Mavado, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2018 killing of Lorenzo Thomas in Cassava Piece, St. Andrew.
The sentence was handed down in the Home Circuit Court on Friday afternoon.
Brooks will have to serve 22 years before he is eligible for parole.
His co-accused, Andre Hinds, was also sentenced to life imprisonment.
He will have to serve 17 years before being eligible to parole.
In handing down the sentence, Justice Leighton Pusey said Brooks had scant regard for the justice system because the offence was committed while he was on bail for another offence.
Justice Pusey also described Brooks as the man in charge and said he showed no remorse.
In relation to Hinds, the judge took into consideration that while he was involved in committing the murder, he was not the chief actor.
Brooks and Hinds were also sentenced to 15 years behind bars for arson.
