May Pen Hospital gives details on meeting with mother of dead three-year old

The administration of the May Pen Hospital has provided details on its meeting on Monday with the mother of the three-year-old boy who died recently while undergoing treatment.

The meeting was part of the investigation into the incident.

A statement from the Southern Regional Health Authority says Nadine Dennis questioned the level of care given to her child when she took him to the Accident and Emergency Department of the May Pen Hospital about 3:50 on the morning of January 6.

She complained that her son was vomiting but was sent home.

Ms Dennis took him back to the hospital about 9 o'clock that night as his condition had deteriorated.

Efforts were made to resuscitate the child, but he died.

The hospital's senior management team says it notes the seriousness of the allegations.

According to the Health Authority, the hospital has offered counselling to Ms. Dennis and her family, and it has been accepted.
