Director of the Pension Industry Association of Jamaica (PIAJ), Desmond Johnson, says the association will be exerting more pressure to pass legislation to facilitate automatic enrolment in a pension scheme once a person begins working.
He notes that less than 20% of working Jamaicans are enrolled in a pension scheme.
The association also wants the government to fast track legislation related to micro pensions so more workers and self-employed persons can also save towards a pension.
