Mayor of St. Ann's Bay to represent PNP in N.E. St. Ann

Mayor of St Anns Bay, Desmond Gilmore, has been selected as the new People's National Party (PNP) caretaker for the constituency of  North East Ann.

Gilmore defeated three other challengers on Sunday during a selection exercise held at the St Anns Bay Primary school where he received 175 of the 400 eligible votes.

The other candidates were businessman Anthony Charley, ICT specialist Michael Ennis, and Councillor for the Ocho Rios Division, Dr Rohan Williams.

Gilmore, who will now challenge Shahine Robinson, the incumbent JLP Member of Parliament, at the next polls, has vowed to win the seat for his Party .   

Robinson has held the seat since March 2001 when she won a by-election.
