Mayor wants partnership with JPS as restoration continues in St. Elizabeth

  

Chairman of the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation and Mayor of Black River Richard Solomon has called for greater collaboration between the corporation and the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS).

 

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, the entire parish was without electricity for an extended period due to the impact of the storm on the infrastructure of the JPS.

 

Mayor Solomon says the partnership is critical to ensure there is a coordinated approach to the restoration effort. 

 

"We are really reaching out to the JPS to really sort of partner with us during these times of crisis because without their presence, I mean, to sort of respond effectively and efficiently is always going to be a challenge. We have to be getting information from different, different sources and that is not good for planning." 

 

"We know that there are certain areas that are greater prority at this point in time. For example, the pump site. But based on information, I know that that is where they are targeting at this point in them. But in the near future, I would hope that the JPS, in interest of the people that they serve, will partner with us when we have these sort of activities," he urged.
