Mike Henry, Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Clarendon, has given an explanation for his absence from Sunday’s church service to mark the Jamaica Labour Party's 70th anniversary. The service was held at the Lionel Town Open Bible Church in Clarendon. There was a large turn-out of senior officials of the JLP and Members of Parliament but Mr. Henry was a no show. The veteran politician said he was unable to attend.
“I had emergency matters to deal with and I had learned about the church service too late in the week to be able to change that,” said Mr. Henry.
Last year there were reports of strained relations between Mr. Henry and the JLP. However, a May article carried by the Jamaica Observer newspaper said the relationship between JLP Leader Andrew Holness and Mr. Henry had improved.
