Jamaica's trade deficit, the difference between the merchandise imports and exports, was US$513 million during the month of January this year.
Imports fell by 6.1% to US$647.6 million while exports tumbled by 15.2% to US$134.2 million.
The intermediate goods and raw materials bill of US$191.6 million was the largest import bill, followed by food and consumer goods and the fuel import bill.
On the export side, manufactured goods accounted for US$64.9 million, mining and quarrying US$56 million and agriculture US$7.3 million.
