Millions in grant for Maxfield Park Children’s Home

The Japanese Embassy will on Thursday sign a multi-million dollar grant for the refurbishing of the Maxfield Park Children's Home.

The children's home will receive more than J$3 million to renovate bathrooms, sections of the kitchen and one of the dormitories.

Funds have also been earmarked under the project for the purchase of beds and cribs.

The contract for the grant will be signed by the Japanese Ambassador and the management of the Maxfield Park Children's Home.

The grant funding was sought by the management of the home last year due to an urgent need for repairs.

Maxfield Park Children's Home is the oldest co-ed child care facility in the country having been established in 1918.

It currently houses 100 children up to age 18.
