A government minister has raised concern that the amount of coffee imported to Jamaica far exceeds the amount exported.

Daryl Vaz, Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, raised the issue at a media briefing Monday morning.

He said this is part of the major issues affecting the local coffee industry.

"This has a devastating effect, not only to the industry, but also, most importantly, to the small farmers who do the majority of the work and get the least return on their investment," the minister highlighted.

Mr. Vaz disclosed that he will be working with Agriculture Minister Audley Shaw to address the issue.
