Ministry of Labour & Social Security warns against Overseas Employment scam

The Ministry of Labour & Social  Security has disclosed that persons purporting to be representatives of the Ministry have been issuing fake overseas employment forms, often referred to as the farm work cards.

Members of the public are being asked to note that the Ministry does not issue any such document.

Additionally, the Ministry says it does not charge a fee for placement in jobs overseas.

It adds that no private individual or organization is authorized to recruit persons for participation in the Overseas Employment Programme.

Under the Employment Agency's Act, the Ministry of Labour & Social Security is the only entity authorized to place people in agricultural employment overseas.

Those who believe that they have been fleeced or scammed are encouraged to report the matter to the nearest Police Station.
