The Ministry of Education has lauded the work done to get Milk River Primary and Infant School in Clarendon ready for the start of the new school year.

The grade one building lost its roof, and the main building suffered significant damage during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Regional Director for Region 7 in the Ministry of Education, Barrington Richardson, praised the parents for joining forces with the school's administrators to fast track the repairs.

"So we really are happy that as a ministry, we were able...to effect the works sufficiently to have them reopen. The work continues, but they are still able to accommodate their students. Today is a good day for Milk River Primary and Infant. They had their students in, and parents, and they had a wonderful orientation session. And I'm looking forward to the coming days that they will have all students in," he said.

Mr. Richards was speaking on Tuesday at the resumption of classes at the institution.
