Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Western, Morland Wilson says consideration should be given to regulating poker boxes in Jamaica.

His comment follows Wednesday night's deadly shooting at a nightclub on Broughton Road in Little London where gunmen stole poker boxes, liquor and other items.

Davroy Barnes, otherwise called 'DJ Myrie', a 37-year-old resident of Mango Hill, Little London was fatally shot during the incident.

Mr. Wilson says legislation is needed to prevent the current trend of criminals stealing poker boxes from business establishments and selling them to other individuals.

"We could look at legislation around how these boxes are deployed across entities, across bars and amusement enterprises across the country. It is something that I think we may have to look at if this trend doesn't stop, as we may have to look at some form of licensing, registration or some form of tracking to ensure that this issue of criminals stealing one poker box and selling to another person is stopped," he proposed.
