Naggo Head killers

The police say they have charged two men, including a member of the Joel Andem led Giddeon Warriors Gang, in connection with the January 28 drive-by shooting at the Naggo Head taxi depot in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Three men were shot one fatally, when gunmen travelling on a motorbike opened fire on commuters at the crowded taxi stand.

Ian McMorris, 42, died on the spot, while two other men ages 48 and 42 were hospitalised in serious condition.

Charged for the incident are Rohan Masters and Mickel Cushinie.

Masters was remanded when he appeared in the Gun Court section of the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court on Thursday.

Mr. Cushinie was not brought to court as he is to face an identification parade in connection with another case.

The two were captured by the Portmore Police, minutes after the deadly shooting in the busy taxi depot.

The police say the two men rode up to the depot and opened fire on commuters.

Masters, who is a member of the Joel Andem Gang was out on bail awaiting retrial for the July 2000 kidnapping and murder of gas station operator Sylvia Edwards.

He was convicted of the murder in 2003 and was sentenced to life imprisonment, but the Appeal Court later quashed his conviction and ordered a retrial.

The police say the attack was carried out as part of an ongoing feud between rival gangs in Naggo Head and the neighbouring Newlands community.

Masters is to return to court next week Friday.
