Natalie Neita Headley hits back at critics

Minister without Portfolio in the Office of  the Prime Minister, Natalie Neita Headley, has hit out at critics who have taken issue with her role in the Portia Simpson Miller-led Cabinet.

Mrs. Neita Headley has also shed light on her responsibilities and duties in defence of  the appointment.
Since the appointment of  the 20 member Cabinet there have been strong calls for the size to be reduced.

In a statement on the weekend the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party, suggested that Mrs Neita Headley and other persons who were appointed Ministers Without Portfolio were not needed in the Office of  the Prime Minister.
But according to Mrs Neita Headley, who was given responsibility for Sports, the Ministers without portfolio including herself  have many other duties.

"A Minister without portfolio in this regard is assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and I am expected to assist in all of those areas including sports. Now sports is one of the pet areas of the Prime Minister and she has asked for some emphasis to be placed on sports"

She also outlined some of  her responsibilities.

"The portfolio has also areas dealing with development, some issues related to Public Sector reform, the UDC, the NHT, so my position there is to play that part that will allow for the Prime Minister to have overall responsibility but I will be assisting her….." said  Mrs Neita Headley.
