National Minimum Wage moves to $15,000 as of today

The new minimum wage for a 40-hour work week is now in effect.
 
As of today, the minimum wage has moved to $15,000, up from $13,000.
 
The increase in the national minimum wage was announced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness in his contribution to the 2024/2025 Budget Debate on March 21.
 
The weekly wage for industrial security guards has also been increased from $14,000 to $15,000.
 
The latest increase follows a 44-per cent rate hike last year.
