The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) is investigating an altercation among members of the security team, visitors, and a staff member at the St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.
The incident occurred Sunday, September 17 and was captured on video; footage of which has been circulating on social media.
NERHA says it expects that the findings from the investigation will yield further details and insights into the matter and has committed to transparency throughout the investigation process.
It says counselling and support services are being made available to staff members, patients, visitors and other stakeholders who may have been affected by Sunday's incident.
The regional health authority has also pledged to implement additional training for staff and boost its security protocols to prevent a recurrence.
