A new Mayor of Kingston is to be sworn in next Tuesday.Long-standing Councillor and Deputy Chairman of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation, Lee Roy Clarke, is to assume the role of Mayor.
Mr Clarke has served as Councillor in the KSAC since 1981.
He has been instrumental in the establishment of the KSAC's 25-year development plan, writing the Councillor's Handbook.
He also contributed to the now-completed National Advisory Committee on Local Government Reform.
Mr Clarke is also responsible for the production of the Poor Relief Directory - a first in the world.
The Directory identifies all wards of the Poor Relief Department, in order to highlight the functions, aims and objectives of the Department.
Mr Clarke's ascendancy is the result of the assumption of the role of Member of Parliament by outgoing Mayor, Desmond McKenzie.
