November 4 plea hearing for 'mastermind' behind illicit distribution of various pills

A November 4 plea and case management hearing has been set for the alleged mastermind behind the illicit distribution of hundreds of sexual enhancement drugs and birth control pills across the island.

Keita Stephens, who is accused of dispensing various pills, including Viagra, was on Tuesday further remanded when he appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.

When the matter was called up, the court was told that Mr. Stephens, who is not registered as a pharmacist, is charged with multiple breaches of the Customs Act, unlawful possession of property, breach of the Pharmacy Act, dispensing drugs without a licence, breach of the Food and Drugs Act among other charges.

Mr. Stephens, who has been in custody since July, is also before the court on sexual offence charges.

Reports are that in July, the police, acting on information, carried out two separate operations at his Kingston 19 home where they seized hundreds of pills.
