A plan has been implemented by the National Works Agency (NWA) to reduce traffic congestion at several intersections in the Corporate Area leading up the Christmas season.
The agency will re-install Junction Boxes at 12 intersections.
"What this means is that motorists are expected to obey the markings by not parking, driving or stopping on them where they don't have through access at an intersection. So if the motorists stop in these intersections, they are going to be liable for prosecution by the police," said NWA Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw.
The intersections where the boxes will be installed are: Constant Spring Road/Suthermere Road; Trafalgar Road/Hope Road; Half Way Tree/Oxford Road; Maxfield Avenue/Hagley Park Road as well as Hope Road/Lady Musgrave Road.
The others are: Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard; Constant Spring Road/Oliver Road; Constant Spring Road/South Avenue; Eastwood Park Road/Red Hills Road; Half Way Tree Road/Hope Road; and Knutsford Boulevard/Oxford Road.
The installation of the boxes will commence tonight and should be completed by Tuesday.
The Junction Boxes will be painted in yellow and comprise four continuous lines forming a box.
