The National Works Agency (NWA) says come Monday, special provisions will be made to ensure ease of travel on sections of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project.

As a result, motorists utilising the Harbour View to Yallahs leg of the roadway will be guaranteed a minimum of two paved, free-flowing lanes.

Stacy-Ann Delevante, acting communication manager at the NWA, says work to complete the expansion of the road project continues:

"Our aim is to mitigate as best as possible against any undue delays that may be faced by motorists utilising the corridor come Monday, September 4. Now it is our hope that persons traversing the space will proceed with caution, that they will observe the signs that are posted on location and obey the signals given by flag persons who will be in place to help guide the flow of traffic," she urged.

She said a tidal flow mechanism will be implemented to ease congestion between Shooters Hill and Cane River Bridge.

During the morning peak hours of 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., motorists utilising the section of the roadway from Stella Road to Cane River Bridge will have two lanes heading toward Kingston.

Vehicles travelling toward Yallahs during the same period will utilise a single lane.

The reverse will obtain during the evening peak hours of 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
