The Observer's Racquel Porter on Saturday night copped the award for Journalist of the Year while her colleague Sharlene Hendricks walked away with the Young Journalist of the Year Award, at the 2019 National Journalism Awards at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
Porter was also awarded for Excellence in Reporting on Children's Rights.
It was a night where all major awards up for grabs were won by female journalists.
The RJRGLEANER Group walked away with a total of 14 awards.
The Gleaner won 8, TVJ six and Observer five awards. Nationwide News Network and BATV were also multiple awardees.
The President's Award for Investigative Journalism was lifted by Nationwide News Network's Stevian Simmonds.
TVJ sports journalist Karen Madden, and Janella Precius copped Prestige Awards in the Electronic Category.
Jordan Forte was also awarded a Certificate of Merit for his body of work.
The Observer's H.G. Help's and the Gleaner's Carleen Davis also shared the Prestige awards.
NNN's Khalilah Reynolds won the Carlton Alexander Award for Finance and Business.
Gleaner Photographer Gladstone Taylor was also a big winner collecting three awards in the area of Sport, News and Human Interest Photography.
TVJ's Brian Lewis and BATV were joint winners of the Best TV Documentary.
