Omar Collymore gets two life sentences for murder of wife and taxi driver

Karen Campbell, the mother of Simone Campbell Collymore and Kerry-Ann Walters, the sister of Winston Walters

Omar Collymore, has been given two life sentences for orchestrating the 2018 murders of his wife Simone and her taxi driver Winston Walters.

Collymore is to serve 46 and a half years before he's eligible for parole.

Michael Adams, the contract killer, was also sentenced to life imprisonment for both murders.

He is to serve 40 1/2 years before being eligible for parole for Simone's death and 42 1/2 years for Mr. Walters' murder.

Dwayne Pink has also been sentenced to life imprisonment for both murders.

He is to serve 30 1/2 years before being eligible for parole for Simone's murder and 32 1/2 years for Mr. Walters' murder.

Shaquilla Edwards, who was found guilty of conspiracy to murder, is to serve one year in prison.

The men were found guilty by a seven member panel of jurors on May 15 in the Home Circuit Court.

Simone Campbell Collymore and Winston Walters were gunned down on January 2, 2018.

'I will satisfy'

The long-awaited sentencing marked the end of a chapter for the Walters and Campbell families.

Similarly to the day of the conviction, Simone's family showed up to court in cobalt blue, her favourite colour.

But her mother Karen Campbell, had mixed reactions to the sentencing.

"I was looking for more, but I will [be] satisfied with that. But one disappointment though is with Edwards. I was looking for more for Edwards because evidence shows that after he withdrew, he went back. The cell tower picked him up with all the boys dem in Half Way Tree and Brook Valley. I don't know why [that decision] was given. But then again, let justice take its course. I wanted 60 years enuh, each person, 120 or 60-60. But hear what? The judge make his decision already, so I'll just accept that. And I know with God, all things are possible. God know why Him give him that," she reasoned.

Winston Walters' sister Kerry-Ann Walters said while the conclusion of the sentencing hearing has brought some amount of relief, her family has been left with emptiness.

"Nobody. And I mean absolutely nobody. Uncle, Auntie, mother, brother, cousin, friend, everybody. Tha vibe deh cyah fill because noboby nah guh be Corey, nobody. There's not going to be another Corey and there can't be another Corey. So this void is not gonna be filled. It can't," she bemoaned.

Ms. Walters had this warning: "Anybody else out there who is planning this act against them wife, them mother, them sister, them brother, anybody, I hope them tek this as a lesson to know that Jamaica ain't playing. And no matter what, they're gonna bring them right there to justice."
