The Pan American Health Organisation says it will hold a two-day symposium on suicide prevention, which it described as a major public health problem in the Caribbean and the region of the Americas.
PAHO said the June 13-14 event is being held in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health.
It says suicide prevention is a key priority of the public health agenda in the Americas.
The symposium will provide an opportunity for countries in the region and relevant actors to discuss advances and gaps in suicide research, evidence-based interventions, and how to strengthen links between research and public policies for suicide prevention.
