A Jamaican version of the Holy Bible written in Patois is to made available in Britain as of this week.
Reports out of the UK are that the Bible Society will launch the Bible at the offices at the Jamaican High Commission in London on Tuesday.
The Patois Bible which covers the life of Jesus to Revelation is the result of a team of translators from the University of the West Indies in partnership with theological institutions in Jamaica over a ten year period.
Supported by Jamaica's High Commissioner to London, Aloun Ndombet Assamba, the launch is expected to have prominent members of the Jamaican Diaspora in attendance.
Commentators have said the Patois Bible is in recognition that the Jamaican Patois is a bonafide language and can be applied to the Word of God.
