Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the government is to introduce legislation to deal with mass shootings.
Dr. Holness made the disclosure while on a tour Tuesday off Waltham Park Road after six men were shot, five fatally, in the area on Monday night.
The Prime Minister, who said referred to the mass shooting as a "multiple victim violent incident", said these occurrences must be dealt with in a special manner.
"We consider them acts of terror and we are examining the law to see what other penalties, what other deterrents can be placed in the law to prevent criminals and criminal-minded people in gangs [from committing] these kinds of acts," he said.
In the interim, he noted that the police can "mobilise resources to deal with the problem", as he warned criminals involved in the gun attack that they will be found and "will either meet a judge or you will meet your maker".
Dr. Holness said the $25 million reward fund that was set up after the Cherry Tree Lane mass shooting in Clarendon has been increased to $30 million and will also be used for information on the Waltham Park gun attack and other similar incidents.
"Any resident, any citizen, anyone who has any information that is valuable to us in leading to arrest or giving us information that would lead to the degrading of the gangs, that information would be obviously treated with the care to protect your identity and your security, but you can also benefit from a reward from this fund."
