PM to emulate ONE-stop shop in UK

Impressed by a community ONE-stop shop in Birmingham, England Prime Minister Bruce Golding has said he will launch a similar scheme here in Jamaica.

The Prime Minister and Industry Minister Karl Samuda while on their trip to England, visited the Pertemps People Development Group in Newtown, Birmingham.

The bustling centre which also houses the Community Education Training Academy provides people with expert job and career advice, along with a creche, a credit union, and recreation space in the centre's large basement.

Mr. Golding also used the tour to meet fellow Jamaicans who have made new lives for themselves as business people in Birmingham.

After the tour, Mr. Golding then gave a speech at Birmingham Town Hall as guest of the city's new Lord Mayor, Count Chauhdry Rashid.
