Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has declared that the newly created ministerial portfolio of Efficiency, Innovation & Digital Transformation is expected to establish greater agility of bureaucratic processes as the government strives to accelerate growth.
The Prime Minister was speaking on Monday morning at the ceremony to swear-in recently appointed senators Ambassador Audrey Marks and Delano Seiveright as ministers of government.
Dr Holness said the portfolio reflects the government's push to improve bureaucracy amid heightened complaints about the pace at which public business is conducted.
Ambassador Marks was sworn in as Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with oversight of the new portfolio.
Mr Seiveright assumes the role of Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism.
Dr Holness said, while the thrust for efficiency, innovation and digital transformation is not new, the government has renewed its focus to better serve the public.
The mandate of Ambassador Marks includes reform of public investment and procurement processes to identify and eliminate unnecessary delays while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Dr Holness says the acceleration of these processes will also allow for sound fiscal spending and growth.
