Matthew Samuda, Jamaica Labour Party candidate for North East St. Ann
By Nakinskie Robinson
Jamaica Labour Party candidate for North East St. Ann, Matthew Samuda, says the People's National Party does not stand a chance in shaking the dominance of the party in any elections.
The MP hopeful says the opposition should refrain from challenging the government to take the reins of Gordon House or any by-elections.
With just 10 days left before electors vote in a by-election in the constituency, Mr. Samuda said the PNP has fallen out of favour with the voting public.
He added that the main opposition party's decision not to contest the by- election was in its best interest.
"If I was them, I would continue not to contest elections because the people of Jamaica do not want the PNP. And that is a fact," he declared.
Mr. Samuda also teased plans in the pipeline for electors, announcing that "the water problem is coming to an end" as five kilometres of ductile iron pipes will be delivered to Exchange next week.
Mr. Samuda was speaking at a spot meeting in the Exchange division on Thursday evening.
Electors will choose a new political representative following the resignation of the JLP's Marsha Smith on September 3.
Ms. Smith was replaced by Mr. Samuda who resigned from the Senate to contest the seat.
