The eight candidates who will represent the People's National Party (PNP) in Region Five in the general election were formally presented at a meeting in Manchester on Sunday.
They include businessman Evon Redman who will replace Raymond Pryce in St Elizabeth North Eastern, former West Indies Cricketer and Councillor for the Malvern division, Daren Powell, in St Elizabeth North Western, and Educator Michael Stewart who will take over from House Speaker Michael Peart in Manchester Southern.
The other candidates are Richard Parchment in St Elizabeth South Eastern, Hugh Buchanan in St. Elizabeth South Western, Peter Bunting in Manchester Central, Region Five Chairman Mikeal Phillips, in Manchester North Western, and Val Wint in Manchester North Eastern.
Phillips said the PNP will be convening meetings in constituencies where there are rumblings over the candidate selection. The aim is to unite supporters.
Region Five comprises the parishes of Manchester and St Elizabeth. In the 2011 general election, the PNP won six of the eight constituencies.
