PNP Vice-President Norman Scott
Norman Scott, Vice President of the People's National Party [PNP] and and Chairman of the PNP Caucus of Councillors, is touting the PNP's chances as both major political parties make one last push to woo voters ahead of Monday's local government election.
Mr Scott told Radio Jamaica News that the supporters of the PNP are energised and will be turning out across the island, claiming that supporters are turning "across the length and breadth of the country, (from) Negril Point to Morant Point.)."
"What I've seen reminds me of 1986 (local government election, won in a landslide by the PNP)... it reminds me of 2011, when the People's National Party was returning to power," he added.
He was quick to add however that he was not taking anything for granted, but stressed that the party had worked hard to reunite its factions, "and as a result of that, we see the fruits..."
Mayor Scott expressed optimism that the PNP will retake most of the municpal corporations arising from the results of the election on February 26.
