Saturday morning's fire-bombing of a section of the
Constant Spring Police Station has been condemned by the Police Officers
Association (POA).
It is reported that around 5:30 two malatov cocktails were thrown into a section of the administrative building which faces the Cassava Piece Road.
However, police personnel at the office were not alerted to the incident until almost an hour later.
On investigation, books on a desk were found ablaze.
Personnel on duty were alerted and the fire extinguished.
Saturday afternoon Chairman of the Police Officers Association, Superintendent Norman Heywood expressed alarm at the incident.
"The POA views with concern and consternation the increased level of violence that has befallen on the society since the announcement of the polls. We are particularly concerned with the attempt this morning to fire bomb and destroy the Constant Spring Police Station. I would like to congratulate all the officers who were working this morning for their speedy and efficient manner they displayed alertness and were able to extinguish the blaze," said Superintendent Heywood.
