Police conduct major traffic checks in Spaulding, Clarendon

The town of Spalding in Clarendon was over the weekend a scene of a major police traffic operation in which several public passenger operators lost their registration plates and were ticketed.

Operations Officer for the Traffic Division Superintendent of Police Courtney Cobre, said measures were taken following complaints from business operators and Mayor Milton Brown, that public transport operators were refusing to use the designated centres.

He said during the operation 42 registration plates were removed from vehicles that were found to be defected.

 The team also went into Mandeville, Manchester where they also carried out another major operation targeting motorists.

In that operation several persons were arrested for possession of ganja, seventy motorists were ticketed for breaches of the Road Traffic Act and four vehicles,  including two high powered motor bikes were seized for improper documentation.
