The St. Ann police are probing the circumstances which led to the death of an American tourist on Sunday.
Joan Grocia-Tomlinson, a 61-year-old administrative assistant of Atlanta, Georgia, died Sunday, two days after complaining of a stomach ache.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the American arrived on the island on Friday and was staying at a hotel in Beecher Town, Ocho Rios.
However, later in the day she began complaining of belly pain and was taken to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital where she received treatment and released.
Ms. Grocia-Tomlinson again complained of the said belly pain on Sunday evening and was taken back to the hospital, but died while receiving treatment, sometime after 10 o'clock.
An autopsy is to be performed the determine the cause of death.
