The Westmoreland Police are confident that the seizure of another high powered rifle will significantly disrupt the activities of gangs operating in the division.
An AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing twenty rounds of ammunition was seized in Geneva District, Grange Hill, on Thursday.
Superintendent Othniel Dobson, head of the Westmoreland Police Division, said a Jamaica Defence Force uniform was also found during the targeted operation.
He noted that the police continue to target gangs in the division, with major focus being on the King's Valley Gang.
"This firearm brings to three the number of firearms found within the last 48 hours and will surely have an impact on the gang's activities within the division. And we are committed to rid the community of gangs, guns and wanted men," he vowed.
