With current crime statistics indicating that most major crimes are committed at night, the police are implementing strategies to counter this.
The Police High Command says in order to maintain full command and control of the force at nights, a Headquarters Command and Control Team will be established.
The High Command says this is despite the policy of having a Senior Duty Officer at Police Control and Duty Officers and Divisional Duty Officers within Areas and Divisions to oversee night operations.
The Headquarters Command and Control Team will include several senior police officers and will be located at the Commissioner’s Office.
The operations of the command centre will be from six o'clock in the evening to six o'clock the following morning.
The centre will provide command and control for all major incidents.
