Police warning for hikers: Don't venture off on your own

The St Elizabeth police are warning would-be hikers not to venture off on their own.

This following the discovery of the body of 60-year-old British national Robert Dyer who went missing last Sunday after going for a "nature walk" in the hilly Ballards Valley area.

Hundreds of residents joined the police, soldiers and fire brigade in the search.

Head of the St Elizabeth Police Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto stressed on Sunday that some basic precautions should be observed before embarking on a hike.

Superntendent Minto, who addressed the matter on Radio Jamaica's That's a Rap, also wants to see more signs being erected on hiking trails.
