Pollster Don Anderson says the support of the electorate is favouring the People's National Party over the Jamaica Labour Party.

Mr. Anderson says an analysis of the movement in the favourability of the parties over time shows a general swing towards the PNP.

In September last year the PNP had a nine-point lead over the JLP, while in the most recent poll conducted January to February this year, the PNP is leading by five percentage points.

Mr. Anderson says despite the dip in support for the PNP, there should be an intensely fought campaign leading up to the general election.

"What we're saying is a momentum with the People National Party, which again, based on these numbers that we're looking at now for the last poll, that has dampened a bit - five percentage points. But the trend is a key factor. The trend is the greatest predictor of the outcome of an election.

Well, the trend leading up to 2020 was obvious. Between 2020 and 2022, pretty obvious. Between 2024 and now, the trend has favoured the People's National Party despite the fall-off of five percentage points roughly in the recently concluded poll," he outlined.

Mr. Anderson was speaking Wednesday evening on TVJ's All Angles.
