Preliminary figure of $64M set for Portland damage

The preliminary estimate of infrastructural damage and emergency work following the recent flood rain in Portland has been set at more than $60 million.
The figure was revealed by Everald Warmington, State Minister with responsibility for Works.

Mr. Warmington and a team from the National Works Agency along with parish council officials, on Tuesday morning, toured several communities which were affected by the flooding.

The State Minister said the preliminary figure of $64 million was only for infrastructural work. However, he said after the last assessment has been made, the final figure can be assertained.

The affected communities in Portland include Rio Grande Valley, Berrydale and Seamans Valley.
