Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that a report on school security is currently being completed by the police high command.
Prime Minister Holness, speaking at the Exchange Primary School in St Ann on Friday, stressed that the nation's educational institutions should be safe spaces for students and teachers.
He said the school must be respected as a place of discipline and good behaviour.
He added that no one has the right to trample on established authorities, asserting that "no parent, no visitor should come onto a school compound and behave in a reprehensible way."
Such behavior sends a signal to the entire society "that the authority of the school, the authority of the teacher, the authority of the principal, and indeed, the authority of law enforcement should be disrespected."
The entire society must "speak with one voice against bad behavior," he declared.
