Repairs begin on police stations damaged during Hurricane Beryl

   

Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake says the High Command has started repairs to police stations damaged during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

 

Speaking at a press briefing on uesday, Commissioner Blake said police personnel carried out their duties, including clearing blocked roads and moving affected people during the hurricane, despite the many challenges they faced. 

 

"In one extraordinary case in South Clarendon, the police station at Exeter lost its roof. But the over 20 men and women at that police station never lost their nerve. There were forward thinking and resourceful and worked to secure every piece of government property at the police station from being lost in the storm and rain. We have videotaped evidence of this and of their efforts to clear roadways of fallen trees and debris to provide safe passage for the residents of Exeter," he highlighted. 

 

Dr. Blake said project management teams have been activated and repair work has commenced on properties that were affected in the hurricane. 

 

Still, he acknowledged that most of the Jamaica Constabulary Force's infrastructure fared well against the storm.
