Reverend Paul Lewis to return to court

Jamaican born American evangelist, Paul Lewis, is to return to the Savanna-lar-mar Criminal Court in Westmoreland on Monday where the preliminary enquiry into allegations that he sexually assaulted two minors continues.

The Reverend was taken back into custody last Wednesday, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) accused him of interfering with the two main witnesses, and questioned the decision of the Magistrate to release him on bond.

However, several hours later, an Appeal Court Judge threw out the DPP's objection and ordered Reverend Lewis' release.

Prosecutors are expected to press home their case on Monday and urge the Magistrate to commit him to trial.

Pastor Lewis, who is the head of the Paul Lewis Ministries, was charged on June 17, last year, following allegations that he had sex with a minor in a Westmoreland hotel, and made advances towards another.

However, the case ran into problems last month when the girls gave testimony changing their stories.

The DPP and the police launched a probe following allegations that the girls were paid to change their testimony.

Following the investigations, the American preacher was slapped with a charge of perverting the course of justice.
